Chronology of cameras Light Industrial Products
The Seagull KJ-1 is a compact camera without light meter but which features:
- a range finder,
- a self-timer (arming button on the lens),
- a hot shoe with central contact,
- a synchro-X socket (on the side of the top cover).
Besides the B exposure, shutter speeds range from 1 second to 1/300.
The lens is the Haiou-45 (38mm; f1:2.8) which also equips other cameras of the brand such as the Seagull 205A, Seagull 88, Seagull C35F and Seagull KJ.
The five blades of the diaphragm form a regular aperture with five vertices and slightly curved edges.
The external shapes of the Seagull KJ-1 remind those of the Konica C35.
No information about the production dates could be found so far. A 1968-1988 interval has however been recorded in the datasheet: 1968 because it is unlikely that production of the Seagull KJ-1 started before that of the Konica C35 and 1988 as the exterior appearance of the KJ-1 is identical to the Seagull 88 which is sometimes said to be the commemorative model for the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Seagull Camera Co., Ltd (1958).
